Jim Gottschalk is a graduate of Michigan State University, holding a Master’s degree in Developmental Psychology with a specialization in learning disabilities. With over six years of experience working in therapeutic school settings, Jim has developed a deep understanding of the cognitive, emotional, and behavioral challenges that affect learning and daily functioning.
Now serving as the Lead Executive Functioning Support Specialist at Cognitive Solutions, Jim works closely with teens and adults to strengthen skills such as organization, time management, task initiation, and emotional regulation. He also supervises a team of specialists, helping guide the development of personalized strategies that promote independence and long-term success across academic, professional, and personal settings.
Jim is certified in the Instrumental Enrichment cognitive restructuring program and trained in the Orton-Gillingham approach to multi-sensory reading. He is also a specialist in visualization techniques for enhancing verbal and reading comprehension. His work is grounded in a strengths-based, practical approach, with a focus on building self-awareness, confidence, and real-world executive functioning skills.
He has also led professional development workshops on ADHD, executive dysfunction, and learning differences, and has extensive experience modifying curricula to support diverse learning needs in both traditional and home-based educational environments.
