William J. Hansen, Ph.D. is a licensed clinical psychologist in the State of Illinois with 30 years of professional experience in a variety of clinical and hospital settings. He graduated from Lake Forest College in 1985, with Special Honors in Psychology, and earned his M.A. & Ph.D. at the California School of Professional Psychology. Dr. Hansen completed an internship at Mount Sinai Hospital, and a fellowship at Kaiser Permanente Medical Center in Santa Rosa California.
Dr. Hansen’s areas of expertise include psychological assessment, psychotherapy, and clinical consultation. “Failure to Launch” the developmental challenge of shifting, of growing from one stage to the next is a unique part of Dr. Hansen’s work, as well as helping individuals with anxiety and depression. Dr. Hansen was also a regular presenter about school violence and school shootings in his capacity as a child psychologist at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center.
The proud father of college age children, Dr. Hansen knows from both personal & professional experience that being human is not always easy. We all experience challenges along the way, and we don’t have to encounter them alone. Outside of the office, Horology (the study of the measurement of time), photography, traveling, cooking, and the study of both history and psychology are all passionate interests of Dr. Hansen.
